College football analyst weighs in on Lane Kiffin rumors

Are Kiffin and Alabama about to part ways?

Lane Kiffin will be the most sought after coordinator in the country this offseason, and it's becoming less and less likely Nick Saban will be able to keep him in Tuscaloosa for a fourth season.

Bleacher Report's Barrett Sallee said in his column this week he expects this to be Kiffin's last season at Alabama for a number of reasons. First, his contract expires after this season. Kiffin has helped lead the Tide to three straight playoff appearances, and his services will be sought after by several schools after the season.

There are a few jobs already open that could be attractive to Kiffin, including Oregon and Houston. The Cougars are reportedly interested in Kiffin and Les Miles.

Finally, his friend Ed Orgeron was just hired as LSU's head coach, and Orgeron wants Kiffin as his offensive coordinator. That could be a good fallback plan if Kiffin doesn't land a head coaching gig.

However things turn out for Alabama this season, don't expect Kiffin to be calling plays for its offense next season.
