College football running back and son of sports legend busted in drug case

He was released from jail Monday.

Elijah Holyfield, a sophomore running back for the Georgia Bulldogs, was arrested Monday in connection with a drug case, according to the Athens Banner Register which obtained the information from a booking report from the Clarke County Jail.

Holyfield was arrested by University of Georgia Police on suspicion of possessing less than one ounce of marijuana and using drug related objects, the report said.  Both would be misdemeanors. He was released from jail in a $4,050 bond.

Holyfield could face a one-game suspension, the Register reported.

Holyfield rushed for 26 yards on six carries last season, He's the son of boxing great Evander Holyfield, who won world boxing titles as a light heavyweight, cruiserweight and heavyweight.
