College playoff contender now the leader for 6'3", 270-pound recruit

The heavyweights are battling it out for him

Less than a week ago, class of 2018 four-star offensive guard Frederick Scruggs had two Big Ten teams at the top of his list - Ohio State and Penn State.

My goodness how things can change in a week.

Scruggs, a 6-foot-3, 270 pounder who is rated on Scout as the No. 1 offensive guard in Pennsylvania, says there's a clear No. 1

"I'm open to all school. But right now, Ohio State is my leader," he told 247 Sports. That's where 247's crystal ball projections expect him to wind up.

But maybe that's not such a surprise since just a week ago he said: "With Ohio State, the main reason is Coach (Urban) Meyer, and he and I have a connection because we are from the same hometown."

"It's hard to describe, but I love it there," he added. "I was there recently for spring practice and it was amazing. All the coaches showed me a lot of love, and I want to get back there real soon."

He had plenty of big time options. He has offers from 15 schools including Michigan, Michigan State, LSU and USC.
