Colossal 320-pound DT has one school standing out ahead of two hometown SEC programs

Looks like one school got a jump start on this under-the-radar talent.

Mississippi native Jeffery Johnson is flying under the radar for now, but the 2018 defensive tackle won't be doing that for much longer considering he's 6'3" and 320 pounds. You can't teach that kind of height and size so his offer sheet should be piling up pretty soon. He spoke with 247Sports about schools recruiting him right now and it sounds like he's high on a powerhouse program outside of the two SEC powers right in his backyard.

He made his way to Tallahassee for Junior Day and came away even more impressed than he thought he would. He had been a fan of FSU ever since he got an offer from them —- his first of what should be many —- and it sounds like he's become a bigger fan.

"They have always been number one, ever since four or five months ago when they first started talking to me. I've been on Mississippi State and Ole Miss [campuses] but Florida State is a bigger football program. Big opportunities here in Florida."

While it sounds like he's sold on the Seminoles, he did say that he would wait to make an official commitment.

"I don't want to push myself into committing right now because I know I am going to get to go to other places, other schools, but I think Florida State will be my next home," Johnson said.

Johnson also said he would take a trip to Ole Miss in March and then come back to Florida State for a spring practice. He is not currently ranked by Scout, 247Sports or Rivals at this time. That should change when they update the rankings later in the spring.
