A NJ Transit train barreled into the Hoboken station Thursday morning, sending hundreds of passengers running for their lives.

At first, it appeared as if the train crash had not killed anyone. Early reports indicated that 20 people were injured in the crash, three or four of whom could be considered critical.

Photos and video of the train derailment and crash first started hitting social media just after 8:45 a.m. As the morning progressed, the numbers of those injured and killed began to rise. By 10:45 a.m., multiple reports citing local officials said that more than 100 people were injured in the crash, and three people died.

As investigators and first responders began to pick through the damage, passengers took to social media to share their horror stories about the train, which was running late to Hoboken station and was supposed to arrive at 8:38 a.m.

“Unbelievable scene in Hoboken right now. Train crashed and went straight through the platform into the station,” Twitter user @Chris_Lantero said of the crash.
