Dallas Cowboys and three other teams interested in trading for Adrian Peterson

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is officially reinstated back to the league. With his reinstatement, teams may start to actively pursue a trade with Minnesota, especially because his agent made public comments saying it's not in his client's best interests to play for the team. Reportedly, Peterson himself has asked for a trade to the Dallas Cowboys, and it's possible that they make a strong play for him.

According to Jason Cole of Bleacher Report, there are four teams interested in trading for the six-time Pro Bowler's services: Dallas, Indianapolis, Arizona and Jacksonville.

"There are four teams out there that are interested in trading for him." Cole said. "The question is whether Peterson wants to force his way out of Minnesota, not play there, and get traded to one of four spots. That includes Arizona, Indianapolis, Dallas, and Jacksonville.

"The best place for him to play, in his mind, is Dallas where he can go compete for a title and run behind one of the best offensive lines in all of football."

If a trade was to get done with Dallas, it was reported on Thursday that the deal would be in the hands of Jerry Jones.

According to Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report, one NFL GM believes that the Cowboys are the leaders in the clubhouse to land Peterson.

I asked two general managers about Peterson's return, and they told me they believe three teams are in play for him: the Cowboys, the Cardinals and the Raiders.

"The Cowboys are the front-runners," one said, "but I actually believe the Raiders are right there."

The Vikings have made it clear that they don't want to part ways with Peterson, but he could make it so miserable for the team that they have no choice but to get rid of him. His agent and Vikings personnel got into a heated argument at the combine, so the relationship between the two sides isn't rainbows and butterflies right now. But for Minnesota, keeping Peterson on the roster is important because this organization was almost a playoff team last year. If Peterson played, the Vikings definitely would've been in the playoffs.

But who knows, maybe Minnesota will get an offer it can't refuse.
