The main event for UFC 210 is set after official weigh-ins on Friday, but it didn’t come without a lot of controversy.
Light-heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier originally came in over the 205-pound weight limit during the weigh-ins, initially weighing 206.2 pounds with just five minutes to go in the weigh-in period. If Cormier couldn’t make weight, the fight would likely be off, as the title would no longer be on the line with the missed weight.
However, just two minutes later, Cormier came back and weighed in at exactly 205 pounds to keep the fight on. Of course, that weigh-in is now under a lot of controversy with just exactly how Cormier lost that weight.
In the weigh-in video above (via MMAFighting.com), you can see Cormier put his hands on the covering towel as he stands on the scale. If Cormier was able to put some of his weight on the towel, it could have taken a pound or so off the scale, allowing him to make weight for the fight with Anthony “Rumble” Johnson on Saturday.
Or maybe he just went and relieved himself in the back, but either way, it’s a shady look as UFC heads into one of it’s most anticipated bouts of the year.
