Deshaun Watson is a two-time Heisman finalist and has gone 32-3 in games that he’s started. He’s been talked about as a potential first-rounder throughout his career, but this season he took a step back in most analysts’ opinion. He threw more picks and his decision-making wasn’t up to snuff in their eyes.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney went on the Dan Patrick Show to defend his QB from the harsh criticism with some people even saying that he was a second-rounder and maybe even only the third or fourth-best quarterback in the class behind Mitch Trubisky, DeShone Kizer and Patrick Mahomes. Here’s the transcript of what Swinney said and he sounds pretty pissed:

Swinney makes some great points about how he has all the intangibles and always shows up in big games. Watson has also made some mistakes, but a lot of that is because the offensive line wasn’t as good this year and the run game didn’t give him as much at times so he was forced to throw more often than he probably would have liked. Behind a legitimate O-Line, you can expect Watson to be a much better passer.
