Details emerge as 26-year-old former NFL RB remains in critical condition

He reportedly had surgery at the hospital

Former NFL second-round pick Isaiah Pead is reportedly in critical condition following a single-car crash at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning, per NBC4.

According to ESPN, Pead underwent surgery the ended at around 7 a.m., and the former running back remains in critical condition. Pead reportedly lost control of his vehicle, drove off the side of the interstate and went through the guardrail before going down an embankment and striking several trees. Pead was reportedly ejected from the vehicle.

Pead was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the 2012 NFL Draft. He's appeared in 30 games over his career, most recently playing three contests for the Miami Dolphins earlier this year. Pead reportedly worked out for the Kansas City Chiefs earlier in the week.
