Details emerge on Draymond Green’s arrest, and it was nastier than originally thought

This is getting uglier and uglier.

Golden State Warriors All-Star forward Draymond Green was arrested over the weekend on simple assault charges. He allegedly punched Michigan State senior cornerback Jermaine Edmondson in the face at an East Lansing restaurant on Sunday. However, that wasn't their first encounter that weekend.

According to the police report from the East Lansing Police Department, Edmondson had told Green to watch where he was going after the forward bumped into him at a different establishment on Friday night. Here's how Edmondson recounts that night:

"I was talking to one of my teammates when Draymond bumped into me and I said, 'Hey bro can you at least say excuse me?'... I asked who he was to think that it's okay to bump into somebody without saying excuse me. he then said, 'I pay for n——- like you scholarships.' Then I started to say you have me messed up before I was choked out by two guys who were with him."

That seems like a pretty nasty thing to a fellow Spartan and more importantly, another human being. Edmondson and his group of friends were at Conrad's Grill for his birthday the next night and that's when things escalated. He told police that the NBA star was talking to his roommate when he decided to tell him that "last night wasn't cool."

That is when things got out of hand. Edmondson says he tried to talk to Green and Green poked him and when he tried talking again he took a punch right to the jaw. According to the police report, Green indicated to officers after the arrest "that he was sorry for slapping the subject and wanted to speak with him to make things right."

That might have been too little too late as Green is set to be arraigned on July 20 and is leaving with Team USA in August to play in the Olympics. The 26-year old still has some growing up to do it seems and he will certainly have a few lessons to learn from this encounter.
