LSU's Orgeron buries current OC, other candidates while talking up Lane Kiffin

Maybe save that quote for never.

LSU head coach Ed Orgeron had a tough decision to make once Lane Kiffin took the head coaching job at FAU. He was basically down to three candidates and everyone pretty much knew none of those guys were his top option.

Before taking the FAU head coaching job he was basically a shoo-in to reunite with Orgeron and become his offensive coordinator. However, Kiffin ended up signing the five-year deal and so LSU ended up moving quickly to find a replacement. What Orgeron shouldn't have done though is to admit Kiffin was the "only" choice for them.

"I was going to wait," Orgeron said. "I was not going to get into a hurry. I was going to bring in the best guy I could get for LSU. I felt he was the best guy out there. (He was the) first and only candidate."

Yikes. That's going to create some awkward conversation new offensive coordinator Matt Canada, who they brought in from Pittsburgh. For what it's worth, Kiffin said he would have stayed on with Alabama if he did not get the FAU head coaching job.
