ESPN's list of best college football players has a new Top 5

A lot of new names on this list.

ESPN released a list of the Top 100 players in college football before the season. Suffice to say, things have changed greatly four weeks into the season.

ESPN released a revised list of the top players on Wednesday, and to no surprise, one player has made a massive leap. Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson — ranked No. 51 to start the season — has taken the full jump up to the No. 1 spot. Previous No. 1, Deshaun Watson, has fallen all the way down to the No. 23 spot.

Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey is the new No. 2 on the list, moving up from No. 3 on the list. He moved up thanks to LSU running back Leonard Fournette dropping to the No. 24 spot.

There are now two defensive players in the Top 5, which is a marked change from these usual lists. Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett and Michigan linebacker Jabrill Peppers take up the No. 3 and 4 spots on the revised list. Garrett doesn't have quite the hype of most guys at the top of the list, but Peppers has turned into a legit Heisman candidate as a leader in both punt return yards and tackles for loss.

Rounding out the Top 5 is Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett. For the full updated Top 50, you can check here.
