Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo announced Tuesday morning that he would be retiring in order to pursue a job in broadcasting, and many have been lauding Romo for a fine career in football.
Don't count ESPN's Stephen A. Smith among those "many", though.

"I don't understand for the life of me what the big deal is," said Smith. "... Tony Romo, a man who has won two playoff games in nine years as starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, who's made $128M over the course of his career, this man is retiring, and we're making such a big deal about it. I mean you actually forgot that North Carolina won the national title last night when the news came out."
Smith wasn't done there, as he started listing off quarterbacks who didn't get the publicity that Romo is getting now with his apparently retirement.
"Drew Bledsoe was a Dallas Cowboy... who's knocking down his door? Vinny Testaverde was a Dallas Cowboy... Quincy Carter was a Dallas Cowboy."
I think you get the point. Stephen A. Smith doesn't think Tony Romo was a good quarterback, and he doesn't understand what all the commotion is about.
Of course, Smith is wrong here, which isn't a surprise. Romo was with the Cowboys for over 10 years, and he's fourth all-time in career passer-rating. On top of that, Romo was suddenly usurped by a rookie last season, and instead of going to another team, Romo has decided to leave football altogether. Of course that's big news.
