Fans reportedly see one reason for the NFL’s dropping ratings

What's the real cause?

NFL ratings have dropped significantly this season. They are down 15 percent overall, and there are likely several factors contributing to the ratings decrease.

According to a Seton Hall Sport Poll released Thursday, 56 percent of people surveyed said they believe fans are watching less because of the national anthem protests before the game.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick began kneeling in protest during the preseason, and other players of the league have followed suit. Given the pregame anthem isn't even televised, there have to be more issues involved in the ratings decline, but it's interesting many fans feel that way.

There were other factors considered in the poll, including the presidential election (50 percent), oversaturation of games (44 percent), postseason baseball (39 percent) and head injuries (33 percent).
