One team’s player departure can easily become another’s treasure and that might be the case for Florida. Former Clemson offensive lineman Jake Fruhmorgen is on the hunt for a new school and the Gators could be the favorite to land him. If this weekend was any indication, Florida might be the favorite now as he took a surprise visit to Gainesville for the first time since 2013.

He’s already visited LSU and Michigan is believed to be in the running to sign Fruhmorgen, but the surprise visit might put the Gators over the top. He’s also from Tampa and was considering the Gators during his initial recruitment out of high school. One of the things that kept him from committing there at first was coach Will Muschamp being on the hot seat. Here are his quotes via SEC Country:

Fruhmorgen did get to meet new Gators offensive line coach Brad Davis during his trip to UF and seemed to like him.

“He’s great,” Fruhmorgen said. “Really enthusiastic. He’s very forward with you and very honest with you. He’s a good, smart guy, so I liked him a lot.

“They’re definitely successful. Obviously Coach Mac has brought in a good coaching staff, good players. They’re doing well. I’ve always watched the Gators, even at Clemson.”

The 6’6″, 280-pound tackle will have two years of eligibility left after he sits out a year due to NCAA transfer rules wherever he ends up going.
