Florida safety's season and career ends after South Carolina game

This is just the worst.

Florida has been hit particularly hard by the injury bug in the last couple of weeks. The Gators have lost linebackers Jarrad Davis and Alex Anzalone, quarterback Luke Del Rio and defensive lineman CeCe Jefferson. Florida fans were holding their collective breath when All-American safety Marcus Maye went down with an injury against South Carolina and was carted off the field.

And it looks like Maye will miss the rest of the season with that injury.

Like that tweet says, Maye was a potential first rounder in the 2017 NFL Draft and the redshirt senior suffered his injury on the worst possible day with the Gators celebrating all of their seniors on the team. Florida also travels to Baton Rouge next week for its makeup game with LSU.
