Joey Bosa heard a great deal of criticism on social media (and otherwise) for his decision to hold out before finally signing his rookie contract with the San Diego Chargers. On Sunday, Bosa received the chance to make his NFL debut and, with an impressive performance, the former Ohio State standout silenced many of those critics.
In fact, he took to the podium and blasted a shot at those who bashed him.
Bosa produced two sacks and three tackles for loss in limited playing time in San Diego's loss to the Oakland Raiders, and he flashed the high end ability that the Chargers were investing in with the draft pick they spent. Chargers head coach Mike McCoy roundly praised Bosa's play as well, saying this to Eric D. Williams of ESPN:
"From the sideline from what I saw, it's what you would expect from a player like that, the way he's played. There's a number of plays you look at and say 'Wow.' So there was wow factor there. He played lights out."
During his career at Ohio State, Bosa was never considered to be shy and this reaction to skeptics after only one game drives that point home. Still, his talent is undeniable and this type of confidence and resolve likely contributes to his overall aptitude as a future NFL star.
