Former four-star linebacker to transfer from Texas A&M

Not great news for them.

The Texas A&M Aggies showed flashes of brilliance in 2016 but, ultimately, it was another somewhat disappointing campaign for Kevin Sumlin and company. Even with No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick Myles Garrett on board, the Aggies were able to muster only eight victories and, on Friday, word broke that Texas A&M will be operating without a valued member of their defense for 2017 and beyond.

In short, talented junior linebacker Richard Moore won't be playing in College Station anymore, as he took to Twitter to announce a transfer from the program.

Moore made five starts for the Aggies in 2016 and he appeared in 11 of Texas A&M's 13 games during the season. Coming out of high school at Cedar Hill, Moore was a four-star prospect according to Rivals and he was certainly a capable piece for the team defensively in recent years.

To make matters worse, Texas A&M also lost defensive tackle Reggie Chevis to graduate transfer earlier this week, further weakening the depth chart on that side of the ball. On one hand, Sumlin and his staff have done a great job in recruiting over a long period of time and should help to lessen the blow. Still, this is a program that needs results now and losing proven players isn't a great sign at this juncture.
