The Michigan Wolverines are turning into a tight end factory under Jim Harbaugh and that is no surprise. All-American Jake Butt suffered a late-season injury that will hurt his NFL Draft stock, but he was a tremendous player in Ann Arbor and players like Tyrone Wheatley Jr. and Ian Bunting look to be following in his considerable footsteps over the next couple of seasons.
However, Harbaugh and company will suffer a significant loss at the position, as former top-50 national recruit Devin Asiasi is set to transfer.

There have been rumblings for a while that Asiasi would like to move closer to home, and the 6'3, 287-pound tight end arrived at Michigan from California. Asiasi was the No. 44 overall prospect according to ESPN and the No. 46 overall prospect according to Rivals in the 2016 class, and he was a contributor to the Wolverines as a true freshman.
With that said, Asiasi was primarily deployed as a blocker and, considering the glut of talent at the position, this type of move isn't a full-on shock. It will be interesting to see both where the talented freshman lands and what Michigan will do at the position moving forward, but this one-time marriage appears to be over.
