Former Jets starting QB Ryan Fitzpatrick officially finds new home

A career backup continues on.

Former New York Jets and journeyman quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has found a new home with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

This will be Fitzpatrick's 13th season in the NFL and it will be his seventh different team. Fitzpatrick previously played for the St. Louis Rams, Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans and the Jets.

The Bucs were in need of a backup quarterback after Mike Glennon signed a deal to join the Chicago Bears earlier in the offseason.

Perhaps the most surprising thing about the Bucs signing Fitzpatrick over Colin Kaepernick.

Kaepernick has been more productive in his career than Fitzpatrick, but if he wants a chance to start next season, Tampa wouldn't be the place for him due to Jameis Winston.

Still, it's odd to see another less-established QB sign with a team before Kaepernick.
