Four-star recruit C.J. Thorpe (6-foot-3, 318 pounds, Pittsburgh, Pa.) is one of the top offensive lineman in the upcoming class of recruits, and he has been committed to Penn State since April. Thorpe's decision to pick Penn State didn't come as much of a surprise, as his father — running back Chris Thorpe — used to play for the Nittany Lions.
However, it looks like the senior Thorpe may have had a bigger hand in his son's commitment that just that. In a recent interview, C.J. admits that his father straight up told Meyer not to recruit him.

"Urban Meyer called my dad, and he told him he should stop recruiting me because it's not going to happen," Thorpe said. "After I got my Penn State offer, Urban called my dad and then he fell off the face of the earth.

This isn't that rare of a thing in college recruiting; parents and recruits often tell coaches that it's "not going to happen". However, this case is interesting, because Thorpe says that his father didn't tell him about his conversation with Meyer.
"I didn't know what happened and thought Ohio State was just not offering me," Thorpe said, "But I talked to my dad a year after the call, and he was like, 'Yeah, I told him he can't recruit you.'"
Well... that's not exactly the greatest thing. The elder Thorpe should at least tell his son about that serious of a development next time.
