Four-star DE M.J. Webb spurns Georgia and Auburn for this SEC rival

Another four-star is off the recruiting board!

The in-state advantage didn't help Georgia too much in this scenario.

Four-star defensive end M.J. Webb (6-foot-3, 272 pounds, Madison, GA) spurned the Bulldogs on Friday, as he announced his commitment to SEC East rival South Carolina.

Webb also had offers from Alabama and Auburn, among others.

Webb has quick feet and a good presence on the edge as a rusher. He also has the size to become a defensive tackle in a 4-3 scheme, which makes him a versatile recruit going forward. For now, though, it looks like his best attribute is on the edge at defensive end.

Webb is South Carolina's 20th recruit of the 2017 class. It looks like head coach Will Muschamp is putting in hard work to try and rebuild the program, at least in the recruiting aspect of the rebuilding equation.

The Gamecocks now rank 16th in the 2017 recruiting rankings, according to 247Sports.
