Four-star OLB Payton Wilson has one school standing out after receiving huge call

Looks like someone is surging for him.

Payton Wilson is a four-star outside linebacker out of North Carolina and he's got some pretty heavy hitting offers from the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State and Ohio State among many others. It looks like he could be favoring one of them though after getting a pretty big call from a head coach.

"One of the recruiting coordinators said to give him a call. Then they put me on the phone with Coach Meyer," Wilson told 247Sports. "It was awesome to talk with coach Meyer. Not many people get the chance to do that. Obviously, they have a great football program. It seems like a great school for academics."

Now he's planning to take a visit there possibly for the spring game. A good time at that game could lead to an official visit and something the Buckeyes haven't seen in a while —- a commitment from a player out of North Carolina. The last one they got was from four-star running back Antonio Williams in the 2016 cycle.

According to 247Sports, Wilson is the No. 11 OLB in the class and the No. 7 recruit in the state. Campus Insiders says that Wilson also has a big trip planned for Clemson in March 4. Looks like the two coaches that just met in the postseason could be competing for a recruit off the field as well.
