It looks like Kirk Cousins wants out of Washington.
The Redskins slapped the $23.94 million franchise tag on Cousins on Feb. 28, and they have until July 15 to negotiate a long-term deal with their quarterback. But making the request for a trade directly to owner Dan Snyder seems to indicate something has gone wrong the Cousins-Redskins relationship.
Cousin’s most mentioned landing spot, the San Francisco 49ers, just signed quarterback Brian Hoyer.
But in today’s market, his salary is back-up money and shouldn’t preclude a deal – if Washington wants to make one.
We clearly haven’t heard the last of this.
