Evidently coaching high schoolers in Texas is like serving in Vietnam.

Or at least that’s what one coach compared it too after a 6-6 season in the big-time Texas high school football world, per Dallas News (H/T Football Scoop):

Florek: How much pressure did you feel after going 6-6 at a place like DeSoto?

Peterman: I’m too young to have gone to Vietnam, but you talk about post-traumatic stress disorder and I don’t remember much about last year (laughs). So many things were going on and you can only worry about thing at a time, that’s what we’re doing this year.

Obviously the coach didn’t mean that in a literal sense, but evidently the stresses of coaching high school football is extremely high in Texas. Regardless, there’s probably a better analogy to use than a horrific war.
