An Oklahoma community has been rocked by the death of a high school football player.

Emmanuel Elija Joseph Zenon - EJ for short - was shot and killed in an apparent drug deal gone bad, snuffing out the life of a 16-year-old football player from Oklahoma.

NewsOK.com reported that, based on court documents, Zenon was found in an Oklahoma City parking lot with a gunshot wound to the back. His parents would later say that he was hit in the spine and instantly paralyzed before he died at the OU Medical Center. A witness who tried to help Zenon said the dying 16-year-old told him he was trying to sell marijuana when he was shot.

Zenon attended Prague (Oklahoma) High School. News OK reported his funeral was standing room only as more than 500 people attended for the young man with the 3,95 GPA.

His sister's Facebook page lays bare her heartache.

Police have arrested a man in connection with his slaying.  Michael John Arledge, 19, of Midwest City, is being held in lieu of 1 million bail at the Cleveland (OK) County jail. Authorities are also looking for another suspect.
