Huge 6'4", 255 pound TE to transfer from Texas

A depth blow for a team that needs it

Tom Herman has a long road ahead to get the Texas Longhorns back to national prominence in terms of on-field success and he looks to be the right man for the job. However, Herman will be operating without one intriguing player moving forward, as 6'4, 255-pound tight end Peyton Aucoin announced this week that he will transfer away from the university.

Aucoin enrolled prior to the 2016 college football season and the former three-star prospect took a redshirt year in Charlie Strong's final campaign. Still, expectations were high for the second-year freshman from Louisiana and this is, if nothing else, a depth blow for the Longhorns.

With that in mind, Texas still has options at the tight end position and Aucoin was not necessarily expected to make a huge impact in 2017. Beyond that, Herman is already accomplishing quite a bit on the recruiting trail, where the Longhorns currently sit at No. 16 overall from a national perspective with regard to recruiting the class of 2018.

Peyton Aucoin's next destination will be a very interesting one, if only because he brings immense size and talent to the table for the future. From a Texas standpoint, Herman and his staff now have another scholarship to work with for 2018 and beyond.
