Huge 6'6" OT Chuck Filiaga announces powerhouse commitment

Massive tackle Chuck Filiaga made his college decision on Saturday.

Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines have accumulated a quality recruiting class for 2017, but massive offensive tackle Chuck Filiaga was on the program's wish list. On Saturday afternoon during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, Harbaugh and company received an early-January present, as the 6-foot-6, 335-pound tackle from Aledo High School in Texas committed to the Wolverines.

The other finalists for Filiaga's services were Oklahoma and one of Michigan's Big Ten rivals in Nebraska, but in the end, the Wolverines were seen as the favorite to land him and they were able to do just that. Michigan's offensive line has been a problem in recent years, most notably against Ohio State and Florida State late in 2016, and the addition of Filiaga could do wonders to help that unit.

Filiaga ranks as a top-100 recruit in the country according to 247Sports composite rankings and he lands as the No. 14 offensive tackle in the class. From the looks of it, the big tackle could compete for playing time right away due to Michigan's incumbent issues and defections due to graduation, and the visit that he took to Ann Arbor on Oct. 1 appears to have worked wonders.

It is never wise to rule out Jim Harbaugh on the recruiting trail and the commitment of Chuck Filiaga is another reminder.
