Kentucky is looking like the frontrunner for this five-star recruit

And he would be a huge asset wherever he lands.

P.J. Washington is one of the most highly sought after recruits in the class of 2017 and is one of the more versatile players as well. The 6'8", 215-pounder is the No. 16 recruit in ESPN's rankings and it seems there's one school that is standing out to him right now despite all the offers he has on the table.

Kentucky coach John Calipari and assistant coach Kenny Payne have been on Washington since the the end of his high school season and he describes what that has been like and it sounds pretty nice.

"I've just been talking to KP a lot. I've been talking to Coach Cal sometimes," Washington said. "And they really like my dad. My dad talks to them a lot. It's like family there."

Washington has already been to Lexington once and plans on going back for an unofficial visit for Big Blue Madness. His father says that P.J. will head back to Lexington on an official visit during a less hectic time later in the season. The younger Washington said that Lexington also has something else going for it:
"I love it. It's a great city," he said. "The fans are ridiculous, and I just love the atmosphere."
He also said he is likely to make his college decision next spring and mentioned that it's hard to tell Calipari no because he's a "smooth talker."

Washington averaged 17.4 points and 10.9 rebounds during the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League regular season with Team Penny, which has one of the best records in the league.
