After Kevin Durant became a free agent after last season, many expected him to show interest in his hometown Washington Wizards. The Wizards hired former Thunder coach Scott Brooks as their head coach, and Durant's high school assistant coach David Adkins was also on the Wizards' staff.

However, Durant didn't even take a meeting with the Wizards before signing with the Golden State Warriors, and he told the Washington Post he had no interest in going home. One of the big reasons — been there, done that.
Durant grew up in the D.C. area, and wanted an different experience.
"I was like, I'm trying to build a second part of my life as a man living in a different part of the country, just trying to do different things," he said. "I did everything I was supposed to do in the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia area, I felt. Now it's time to do something new. I didn't want to come back. That's just my thought process behind it. It had nothing to do with basketball, the fans, the city.
Durant also wasn't a fan of the Wizards courting him before he became a free agent. Still, he hopes the team does well.
"Hometown team, I want them to do well, and I want Scotty to do well as a coach," Durant said. "He's turned that thing around after a slow start, playing championship-caliber basketball and you got to respect it."
The Warriors take on the Wizards in Washington D.C. at 7 p.m. Tuesday night.
