After reports emerged that Lane Kiffin and his staff pulled a scholarship from a student just weeks out from National Signing Day, the same appears to have happened with Miami-Booker T. Washington linebacker Isaac Readon.

The move has apparently infuriated the powerhouse high school program’s head coach Tim “Ice” Harris, leading to the coach telling Kiffin during a phone call in January that he won’t discuss other players until it’s clear what happened to Readon, per FAU Owl Access.

Kiffin “was calling about another kid and then he said they hadn’t evaluated (Readon) yet and they didn’t know if they were going to get him or not,” Harris said.

“When you say, ‘We’re not sure,’ that’s code for ‘No,”” Harris said.
“I had no comment on other players,” Harris said. “I wanted to make sure we cleaned up the problem with (Readon) first.

According to the report, Harris helped Readon prepare for FAU and kept other programs away at his request. After Kiffin reportedly never directly informed Harris or Readon of their decision, he’s been left scrambling to find another home.

According to the note, there are at least two other players, tight end Roger Carter and defensive tackle Jalon Sheffield, that are in the same boat with a prior scholarship offer from the old regime only to be ignored under Kiffin’s reign.

“Unfortunately, this is a rocky one we are starting of with,” Harris said. “Not saying it can’t get fixed, but it didn’t start well.”

Coaches have not been banned, according to the report, but it’s a rocky start for the Kiffin-led staff.
