Leonard Fournette falls as FOX Sports names new No. 1 Heisman candidate after Week 1

The LSU RB takes another hit.

Sorry, Leonard Fournette; it looks like another running back is the talk of college football.

Bruce Feldman of FOX Sports released his Top 5 Heisman candidates after Week 1, and Fournette's name wasn't on top of the list. In fact, Fournette wasn't on the list at all, as Feldman picked these five players as his top candidates for the award.

1. Nick Chubb, RB, Georgia
2. Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford
3. Greg Ward Jr., QB, Houston
4. J.T. Barrett, QB, Ohio State
5. Cooper Kupp, WR, Eastern Washington

Kupp as the obligatory "Week 1 statistical madness aside, there is nothing wrong with this list whatsoever. Chubb being at the top is well deserved, as the running back returned from a knee injury to put up 222 yards and two touchdowns against North Carolina.

Probably the most interesting name on that list is Houston's Greg Ward. Ward was fantastic in the Cougars' upset of Oklahoma, throwing for 321 yards and two touchdowns. Ward was constantly creative on third downs, often eluding pressure on his way to converting 9-for-11 throws in those situations.

If Ward continues his excellent play, then there is a chance that Houston could go undefeated. If that happens, they he could very well be the top candidate for the award.
