LSU could be without one of its best defenders for the rest of the season

This one is going to sting.

LSU is already taking hits on the offensive side of the ball with running back Leonard Fournette likely out for an extended period of time. Now it's going to take some lumps on the other side of the ball with safety Rickey Jefferson out possibly for the season with a broken ankle.

Citing multiple sources with knowledge of the situation, the New Orleans Times-Picayune is reporting that Rickey Jefferson suffered a broken ankle during practice Wednesday. The injury is believed to be pretty serious and could keep him on the sidelines for the rest of the year.

Jefferson also tweeted this out so the injury is likely a serious one he isn't going to be able to walk off any time soon.

Jefferson has started every game this season after getting nine starts last season. He's also the brother of former Tigers quarterback Jordan Jefferson.
