LSU could contend for national title according to one ESPN analyst

Predictions for LSU have been all over the place in recent weeks. One week the Tigers are listed among the most overrated, the next they're considering contenders for the SEC title and more.

According to ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit, the Tigers could be among the final four teams in the College Football Playoff.

Herbstreit made predictions for the 2015 College Football Playoff as well as candidates for his annual Herbie Awards Thursday, listing LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Arizona State as four teams he could see competing for a national title in January.

The former Buckeyes quarterback predicted LSU would meet Tennessee in the SEC title game and earn a place in college football's final four after defeating the Volunteers. Whether Herbstreit listed LSU above schools like Alabama, Auburn and other more traditional picks for this year's CFP to be bold or because he actually believes the Tigers have what it takes to make a run for the title in 2015, LSU does have the talent to compete in the rugged SEC.

Whether they'll compete for a national title is another story.
