I’m not sure how LSU fans would feel about this one.
After firing Les Miles, LSU already has a lot of decisions to make at the end of the season. Do they keep interim coach Ed Orgeron? Do they go after a guy like Tom Herman or P.J. Fleck?
Or how about current Texas head coach Charlie Strong? According to one report, Strong would be “near the top” of LSU’s coaching list were he to be available.
Of course, the only reason Strong would likely be available would be if the Longhorns fired him at the end of the season. Texas has struggled under Strong’s rebuild so far, but the main caveat is that it is only his third season in Austin. Strong has recruited well, and some believe that it’s only a matter of time before he turns things around, but people around the Texas program are starting to grow impatient.
Would Strong be the right fit at LSU? That remains to be seen. The Tigers seem to have something going with Orgeron as the head coach right now, and how he performs for the remainder of the season will have a large impact on LSU’s final decision for their head coach.
