LSU's AD was reportedly furious, and here's what he allegedly told Tom Herman on phone call

This is a bad look for Tom Herman.

LSU's talks with Tom Herman initially started after the Tigers' loss to Florida, per Gridiron Now and ended Saturday morning.

After an agreement was reportedly in place, LSU's athletic director Joe Alleva allegedly told Herman through his agent "Don't worry. I have a guy who wants the job," as the Houston coach attempted to leverage the oral agreement early Saturday morning.

"It wasn't about money," the source said. "It wasn't that Texas offered. It was about a gentleman's handshake in place and you reneged."

Here's more on the meeting after LSU's loss to Florida:

"Herman was "elated" and "surprised it was him over (Jimbo) Fisher," said the source, who also said there never was a contract offer made to Fisher."

Prior reports detailed Fisher walked away from an offer of $6.8 million annually.

It's a rough situation for LSU, but ultimately the Tigers get a Baton Rouge native who is dedicated to rebuilding the program.

Already a strong recruiter, Ed Orgeron is expected to keep defensive coordinator Dave Aranda and he is reportedly trying to sway offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin from Alabama.
