Florida breaks Outback Bowl record to take lead at halftime

WHOA!

Nobody thought there would be any explosive plays from either Iowa or Florida in the Outback Bowl considering both teams rank near the bottom in the entire country when it comes to offensive efficiency. However, Florida had its most explosive play in a long time with this 85-yard catch and run from Austin Appleby to Mark Thompson.

That was only Thompson's fourth catch of the year and easily his longest play from scrimmage. The play also made some Outback Bowl history:

Florida currently leads 10-3 at halftime against Iowa. The Gators also have 227 yards of total offense to Iowa's 114.
