An Arizona high school kicker made history by signing her letter of intent with a division II school in Colorado called Adams State.

Becca Longo, a senior kicker at Chandler Basha high school in Arizona, is believed to be the first female to earn a NCAA football scholarship.

Via AZ Central:

“I contacted them during the season, and after the season I got contacted back by them,” said Longo, who made 30 of 33 point-after tries and connected on a 30-yard field goal her senior season. “The offensive coordinator (Josh Blankenship), he told me he wanted me to come out for a visit.”

Longo was impressive and her accuracy on long kicks seems to be what the caught the eye of other coaches.

“Todd said it wouldn’t surprise him to see Longo scorein a gameĀ for Adams State.”

“It’s going to be stronger kicking, but she’ll get stronger and she’ll compete,” he said. “That’s what she’ll do. She’ll compete. She’ll be fine.”

Longo may not be playing division I, but this is still a really big deal and the kind of story you like to see.
