Jim Harbaugh has strung together a very strong recruiting class for 2017 but, to this point, it is more of a group that is solid across the board rather than spectacular. However, the Michigan Wolverines will be hosting a player this weekend that could change that in the very near future.
Five-star wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones will be in Ann Arbor for the game between Michigan and Penn State on Saturday, and this is a huge coup for Harbaugh and his staff. The 6-foot-2, 192-pound standout from Detroit (Cass Tech) has been a player on Michigan's radar for a long time, but getting him on campus for a game in which the Wolverines are favored by nearly 20 points should do wonders for the recruiting pitch.
At this point, Michigan is seen as a decisive favorite to land Peoples-Jones and with both Jehu Chesson and Amara Darboh (the team's starting wide receivers) set to move on to graduation, there is playing time available for 2017 and beyond. It isn't as if the Wolverines are bidding against themselves, though, as Ohio State, Alabama, Florida and Michigan State (among others) remain in pursuit of the top wide receiver in the country.
It would be nice for Michigan to rebound in the recruiting field after a few high-profile decommits for the 2018 class, and this will be a huge weekend for Jim Harbaugh and company in courting Donovan Peoples-Jones.
