NFL insider suggests the Browns may consider an absolute stunner at No. 1 overall

He has long been considered one of the top prospects in college football and it appears things are turning around at the right time.

Leonard Fournette's stock is soaring with just weeks remaining before the NFL Draft, and that could mean the LSU product is in play for the No. 1 overall draft selection.

That's at least according to Jason La Canfora from CBS Sports:

"Some have suggested to me that Fournette is even in play at No. 1 with the Browns. Yes, you read that correctly. I don't see that happening, and in the end, I suspect the Browns take pass rusher Myles Garrett. But then again, the Browns are capable of some extreme curveballs in that front office and their version of analytics tends to swing outside of convention. Maybe someone believes the de-valuation of running backs has gone too far."

Fournette ran a 4.51 in the 40 even at 240 pounds at the NFL Combine, but he still faced some heat for showing up as what some perceived as overweight.

Fournette shot back at his critics big time, as he weighed in at a clean 228 pounds at LSU's Pro Day just one month later.

Early mock drafts had Fournette as a consensus top-10 pick, likely landing with the Carolina Panthers. He has been projected to go as high as No. 4 overall to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The standout back ran for just over 3,800 yards, 40 touchdowns and 6.2 yards per carry over three years at LSU. He has long been considered one of the top prospects in college football and it appears things are turning around at the right time.
