Newly signed Dallas Cowboys standout reportedly arrested Monday

Not great.

The Dallas Cowboys are seemingly always in the news, even during the (long) offseason for the NFL. Usually, Jerry Jones and company absolutely seem to love the attention.

This time around, though, the Cowboys and defensive back Nolan Carroll would certainly prefer anonymity, as the Dallas Morning News reports that the 30-year-old has been booked on a DWI charge. The report indicates that Carroll was stopped in his car at approximately 2:20 am local time on Monday morning and, from there, he was arrested and charged.

In addition, it appears that the Cowboys offer a program specifically designed to avoid this kind of issue.

Carroll has not yet played for the Cowboys, after arriving via free agency during the offseason after spending last season with the Philadelphia Eagles as a starter. While it is unclear what will transpire from the reported arrest, it certainly is not a good way to kick off a new stop in Carroll's career and he will be under the microscope moving forward.

Further details will almost certainly emerge, including what the original traffic stop was for prior to the expansion of charges. Until then, the jury is out on what exactly transpired in this situation but none of it is good for player and team.
