Notre Dame just lost thanks to the worst snap of all time

This is just unfortunate.

The Slip 'N' Slide Bowl sponsored by Hurricane Matthew is finally over, and Notre Dame lost in the only way this game could possibly end.

Down 10-3 and driving down the field, Notre Dame was faced with a critical 4th-and-8 in the red zone. After some apparent miscommunication on the play, quarterback Deshone Kizer finally got back into his shotgun position when disaster struck... the center snapped the ball before Kizer was ready.

After the ball tracked back about 20 yards into the backfield, Kizer tried his best to pick it up, but he was hit before he could get off a clean pass. A lineman caught the wayward ball, but it didn't matter; it was an illegal catch at that point, and Notre Dame was finished.

This game probably shouldn't have been played today because of the conditions, but apparently it was Notre Dame that was a heavy proponent of keeping it as scheduled. They fall to 2-4 on the season, and the hot seat continues to get warmer for Brian Kelly.
