There are never enough quality kickers in the college football world and Ohio State may have found a solution for the next couple of years in a very weird place. On Tuesday evening, the Ohio State marching band posted a video of one of its members blasting a 55-yard field goal and it was wildly impressive.
Following the staggering kick, Ohio State assistant director of player personnel Eron Hodges reached out to respond and offer the kicker a tryout for the team.
It has since been reported that the kicker is a sophomore trumpet player named Austin Brizee and the good folks at Eleven Warriors bring word that he has actually never played football before. With that said, Brizee does have a reported background in soccer that would mimic many quality kickers at the college level and there is no questioning his leg after seeing this boot.
The notion of #CollegeKickers is always an adventurous one and, unfortunately for Brizee, the Buckeyes do have another former walk-on doing a quality job at the kicker position in Tyler Durbin. However, Ohio State loses Durbin to graduation after this season and it would be a wild story of Austin Brizee actually became a valued member of one of the best teams in the country as a result of a Twitter video.
