With the season nearing its end, we have plenty of coaches on the hot seat as school hope to turn their programs around in the future. For one program, though, it looks like they have made the decision to stick with their coach for one more season.
According to 247Sports, N.C. State head coach Dave Doeren will return for a fifth season with the Wolfpack in 2017. Doeren is 23–25 in his four years at N.C. State, which is somewhat disappointing after Tom O’Brien’s six-year tenure that saw him go 40-35.
One step that Doeren had up on O’Brien is that he was bringing in better recruiting classes… to start. The recruiting rankings have fallen recently for N.C. State, which can’t speak well for Doeren’s future if he can’t turn things around quickly.
N.C. State still has Miami and North Carolina left on the schedule in attempt to get bowl eligible from their current 5-5 record. Lose both of those games, though? That could get ugly.
