One ESPN analyst would be "surprised" if this quarterback didn't win Michigan's starting job

This expert has a pick for Michigan's quarterback job.

Jim Harbaugh knows who his quarterback is at the start of the 2016 season. In fact, Michigan's group of quarterbacks also know who will take the first snap.

Of course, Harbaugh is declining to tell the public who "his guy" will be for the Hawaii game (and beyond), though Dan Murphy of ESPN has a pretty good idea of who will lead the Wolverines from the most important position on the field.

Murphy's pick is junior Wilton Speight, who famously keyed a last-minute touchdown drive to push Michigan past Minnesota during the 2015 season. The other central contender for the job, John O'Korn, possesses higher upside based on his athleticism and play-making aptitude, but the Houston transfer has not lived up to expectations according to those around the program, and Harbaugh could be looking for a steadier hand.

The 6-foot-6, 243-pound Speight likely will follow the Jake Rudock mold if given the reins, as the former Iowa transfer and current Detroit Lions quarterback did not exactly play a flashy brand of football. Still, Rudock's development under Harbaugh's watch was quite impressive and Speight has the benefit of an entire year in this particular scheme in which to grasp the offense.

At this point, nothing would surprise the fan base when it comes to Jim Harbaugh and the quarterback job, but this leading analyst is banking on Wilton Speight to claim the job.
