ENGLEWOOD, CO - MARCH 07: Quarterback Peyton Manning addresses the media as he announces his retirement from the NFL at the UCHealth Training Center on March 7, 2016 in Englewood, Colorado. Manning, who played for both the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos in a career which spanned 18 years, is the NFL's all-time leader in passing touchdowns (539), passing yards (71,940) and tied for regular season QB wins (186). Manning played his final game last month as the winning quarterback in Super Bowl 50 in which the Broncos defeated the Carolina Panthers, earning Manning his second Super Bowl title. One NFL team is reportedly trying to bring Peyton Manning back into the league

This is not exactly a vote of confidence in the current regime.

The Indianapolis Colts currently have a head coach in Chuck Pagano and general manager in Ryan Grigson, but owner Jim Irsay is attempting to replace both of them.

Jay Glazer and Bob Kravitz both reported Irsay has reached out to Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning about returning to Indianapolis to serve as the team's general manager. They also reported Irsay has tried to gauge Jon Gruden's interest in coaching the team.

Kravitz said it's "unlikely" Manning accepts Irsay's offer.

According to Adam Schefter, Gruden will not leave ESPN to coach the Colts.

This can't be a good sign for the future of both Pagano and Grigson. Irsay clearly wants the Colts to return to prominence, and he doesn't seem to think current the coaching and management system is capable of leading the franchise back to the Super Bowl.
