Art Briles embarked on his apology tour yesterday, with the former Baylor head coach apologizing for his mishandling of the sexual assault scandal that involved several of his football players. Briles was fired back in May for it, but he had waited to make a public apology until this week.
"I understand I made some mistakes," said Briles. "There were some bad things that happened under my watch. ... I understand I made some mistakes, and for that, I'm sorry."
ESPN's Paul Finebaum isn't buying it.
"I found the whole thing to be shallow and disingenuous," said Finebaum. "He went out and hired Jimmy Sexton, the top agent in college sports, and he suddenly feels like he made a mistake, he's sorry, he wants to go on national television to apologize: that's great, but it didn't move me and I don't think it's going to move administrators when he starts looking for a job here in a couple of months."

Finebaum has a point. Briles was deflecting on the situation less than a month ago, saying he was "dumbfounded" by his own firing. Now he's suddenly apologizes right before he plans to go out and start interviewing for job?
Briles is set to have his apology interview air in full on this Saturday's episode of College GameDay.
