Paul Finebaum discussed the LSU job and mentioned just two names

What's next for LSU?

Rumors around the LSU head coaching gig will only continue to pick up steam over the next two weeks, after interim head coach Ed Orgeron led LSU past No. 23 Ole Miss and ahead of a matchup with No. 1 Alabama.

For ESPN's Paul Finebaum, when asked what Coach O needs to do to keep the head coaching gig, he mentioned just one other name — Houston's Tom Herman.

Here's what he said on GameDay Saturday morning, per SEC Country.

"The most important thing is a win tonight, because it gives him two weeks to continue the movement," Finebaum said on the show. "Alabama is two weeks from tonight. And I think the LSU fans will continue to coalesce around him. There's one obstacle — it's Tom Herman. He started four weeks ago at the top of the list. I think he's still somewhere up there. There are indications one week he wants it, one week he doesn't. But I think he's still in play. But what Orgeron has done is simply unbelievable. He has energized this fan base, which four weeks ago tonight was dead. They were done after the Auburn game."

Until Herman inks an extension, or openly says he's not going elsewhere, his name will likely continue to pop up around LSU, as well as not currently vacant jobs at Texas and USC. Rumors will only continue to pick up after Houston's latest loss.

Coincidentally, it seems mentions of FSU's Jimbo Fisher as a possibility has died down.

For Orgeron, wins against the Rebels and, if he's able to get past the Tide, could cement his standing as head coach. But with Houston most likely out of the College Football Playoff conversation and no addition to Big 12, it's quite understandable that he could consider any of the three big-time possibilities.
