Pelicans officially shut down Anthony Davis for the season

This is some sad news for the Pelicans big man.

Anthony Davis had a pretty great chance to make an extra $24 million this year if he were to make one of the three All-NBA teams. However, New Orleans Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry announced on Sunday that the team would shut him down for the rest of the season. He was averaging 24.3 points, two blocks and 10.3 rebounds per game while shooting 49 percent from the floor.

There was definitely a good chance he was going to make one of the All-NBA teams and it's truly disappointing he is going to miss out on that bonus because he certainly deserved it and is one of the nicer guys in the league too. ESPN's Tom Haberstroh noted how awful this year has been for injuries as well with this list of guys who were declared out for the season.

Those are some names that could have been huge difference makers for their respective teams too.
