Pirates pull off the first 4-5-4 triple play in MLB history against the Cardinals

The Pittsburgh Pirates made MLB history on Saturday when they turned a 4-5-4 triple play, which had never been done before.

It was a combination of heads-up defense from the Pirates and just awful baserunning by the Cardinals that allowed Pittsburgh to turn the triple play. Pirates second baseman Neil Walker skied for a line drive and threw to third base to to get the force out there, and then took a return throw back to second to get a force on the runner that had left second and had not returned.
